About Dental Implants
What is a dental implant?
Dental implants are tiny titanium post that is surgically implanted into the jaw bone to mimic your natural tooth root. Over time, the dental implant will fully integrate into the jawbone, creating a stable, functional foundation for your dental bridge, denture, or dental crown. Once the dental implants integrate into the jawbone, Dr. Sheen will attach a dental crown, dental bridge, or a dental bridge depending on the number of teeth you are missing and their location in the mouth. Dental crowns are usually used to replace a single missing tooth. Dentures are used to replace full bottom or top arch of teeth. A dental bridge is used to replace consecutive missing teeth. Dr. Sheen will carefully examine your smile and determine which option will best suit your dental needs.
How will I know if dental implants are right for me?
At The Annapolis Center For Dental Health & Wellness, our practice is focused on providing patient-centered, high-quality dental care. During your consultation, Dr. Sheen will examine your teeth, bone structure, and gums to determine if you have a sufficient amount of healthy jaw bone structure support dental implants. Patients with a substantial amount of healthy jaw bone structure are typically ideal candidates for the dental implant procedure. However, if dental implants are not the right replacement option for your smile, we do offer other replacement options like dentures and bridges to help restore your smile.
